bulletAddress Book Categories

If you're a salesperson, make the most of the alphabetically listed categories in your Address Book. Keep all your sales together and move from category to category with just a click of the Address Book button by creating sales categories: Sales Big, Sales Medium, Sales Small, Sales New, Sales Zero, Sales Prospective, Sales Managers, etc. It will also be easier to find people or phone numbers, especially if you have hundreds or even thousands of them!

bulletBeam Memos

Beam a memo or a whole category of memos. To beam, first select a memo, then go to the pull down menu and tap on 'Record' and then 'Beam Memo' (make sure your I/R port is lined up with the receiving I/R port.)

To beam a whole category, go to the Memo List in the category you want to select, then go to the pull down menu and tap on 'Record' and then 'Beam Category.' All memos in the selected category are beamed to another handheld.

bulletCustomize Your Alarm

Having trouble hearing your Date Book alarms? Adjust the volume and the sound. From the Date Book, tap Menu, then Options and Preferences. From there you can choose another, more audible (or fun), alarm.

bulletCustomize Synchronization

Looking to shave time off your HotSync operation? Only synchronize the programs you actually use. Don't use the Expense application? Never read your email on the road? Don't waste precious synchronization time. Just open the Palm Desktop, choose the HotSync drop-down menu, and click Custom. You'll get a list of all the applications that synchronize. Simply change the ones you no longer need from Synchronize the files to Do Nothing and you could save yourself a ton of time.

bulletCut, Copy & Paste

Did you know you can use the same familiar commands to Copy, Cut, Paste, and Undo on your Visor handheld that you use on your PC or Mac? Just drag your stylus over the text to highlight it, enter the command stroke (pull the stylus from the bottom left to the top right of the Graffiti letter area) then Graffiti a C for copy or an X for cut. To paste copied text, enter the command stroke then P. To undo a text edit, enter the command stroke then U.

bulletFind it Faster

Save time when you're searching! Just highlight text, then tap the magnifying glass in the lower-right corner of the screen. The highlighted text is automatically copied into the Find blank!

bulletMake a Gift List

Give them what they really want
Create individualized gift lists for friends and family right on your Visor handheld. Just go into To Do and tap the Categories menu in the upper-right corner. Select Edit Categories and create a new category called "Gifts". Click OK and select the Gifts category from the top-right pull-down menu. Tap New and write down the name of a friend or loved one. Then go into Details, tap Note and write down gift ideas that person would love to have. Make a separate list for all the people in your life, and the next time you need to buy a gift for someone, you'll know exactly where to look!

bulletProtect Your Gift List

Once your friends find out about the gift list on your Visor handheld, they'll probably stop at nothing to get their hands on it. To protect those lists from prying eyes, first set up your private password by selecting Security from the main menu. Tap Unassigned and enter your desired password and then confirm it when prompted to do so. Next, go into the Gift folder of To Do, select any list you want to be able to hide, tap Details and check off the Private box. Then, whenever you are going to be away from your handheld for a period of time, simply go into Security and select Mask Records or Hide Records as your privacy setting and all of the lists you marked Private will not be viewable by anyone without the right password. When you want to view your hidden lists again, go into Security and select Show Records as your privacy setting.

bulletGraffiti Shortcuts

Try creating a Graffiti shortcut for your frequently used words and phrases. To set up your shortcuts, go to Preferences on your Main Page and select Shortcuts from the top-right categories. Tap "New" and give your shortcut a name. Then enter the text that you would like that shortcut to create. For instance, "js" could be a shortcut for "John Smith." Now when Mr. Smith wants to write his name, he just writes the shortcut symbol (it looks like a cursive lowercase "L"), then "js"—and his name magically appears!

bulletInsert Owner Information

Want to maximize your chances of having a lost Visor handheld returned? Label yourself as the Owner. Just tap the Applications Launcher icon (the house), then tap Prefs. In the top right corner, choose Owner from the pull-down menu. Enter your contact information there so any potential good Samaritan knows who to call.

bulletList and Icon Views

With all of the applications available for your Visor handheld, scrolling through the icons they create on your Main Page can become pretty tiring. But did you know that you can change the size of your icons to see more of them at once? Just tap the Menu icon and select Options from the pull-down menu at the top. From there, tap Preferences and where it says View By, change it to List and tap OK. Now it's easier than ever to find your favorite applications!

bulletQuick Notes for your Date Book

Get even more from your Date Book. You may know that you can attach notes to your appointments, so that important info, like phone numbers, is right where (and when) you need it. And, you can choose to attach notes to a single entry or multiple meeting occurrences. What you may not know is how quick and easy attaching a note can be. Just drag your stylus from the lower left corner to the upper right corner of the writing area then draw an "A".

bulletTest Your Memory on your Handspring Visor

Think you're running out of memory? First, if you have a Springboard module inserted, remove it so you don't get a distorted reading. Next, tap the Application icon (the house), then tap the Menu icon and select Info. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Size box to reveal how much space each application takes and how much of your memory is still free.
